Collection: Shape of The Universe

The current understanding among scientists is that the observable universe, the portion of the universe visible from Earth, appears to be roughly spherical or circle in shape.

Here's what the Quran states 1400 years ago:

[Quran 55:33]:

"O assembly of jinn and men! If you have power to pass beyond the regions of the Heavens and the Earth, then pass beyond [them]. But you shall never be able to pass them, except with extraordinary power."

The term "Aktar أَقْطَارِ" [Regions] in the verse means diameters, which is strictly a property of circles or spheres. According to the interpretation, since Earth and the heavens have diameters, the Quran suggests that both Earth and the observable universe are spheres.
