Collection: Sirius
Recent studies have determined that the distance to the brightest star in the night sky, Sirius, is approximately 8.61 light-years from Earth.
[Quran 53:1]
By the stars when they fade away.
[Quran 53:32]
Those who avoid gross sins and indecencies—except for minor lapses—your Lord is of Vast Forgiveness. He knows you well, ever since He created you from the Earth, and ever since you were embryos in your mothers’ wombs. So do not acclaim your own virtue; He is fully aware of the righteous.
The word Star is mentioned in [Quran 53:1] and the word Earth is mentioned in [Quran 53:32].
The word "Star" and the word "Earth" are separated by 861 letters in the same chapter.
Today we know that Sirius is 861 centi light-years away from Earth. You may also confirm this by doing an independent research.
More interestingly:
The radius of Sirius is 1.711 times the radius of the sun.
Sirius A, the visible star of the binary, has a radius of 1.711 R
Sirius A, the star we can see with our eyes, is 1.711 times bigger than the sun. Interestingly, when you compare the chapters in the Quran named "The Sun" and "The Star" by their chapter numbers (Chapter 91 and Chapter 53), the ratio is 1.711.
Or were they created by nothing, or are they [their own] creators?
[QURAN 52:35]
Or did they create the Heavens and the Earth? Rather, they are not certain.
[QURAN 52:36]
Or do they possess the treasuries of your Lord, or are they in control [of everything]?
[QURAN 52:37]
Or do they have a stairway [into the Heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear proof.
[QURAN 52:38]
