Collection: Spider Web

Scientific Fact: In the world of spiders, it is typically the female spiders that build webs, while adult male spiders do not engage in web-building activities. This behavior is widely observed in the natural world and can be confirmed through independent research.

Quranic Reference (Chapter Al-Ankabut, Verse 41): The Quran makes a reference to this aspect of spider behavior in Chapter Al-Ankabut, Verse 41. The verse states: "The likeness of those who take to themselves protectors other than Allah is that of the spider. It builds a house. But the most fragile of houses is the spider's house. If they only knew." The use of the feminine form "It-takhathat" in the Quranic verse aligns with the behavior of female spiders, which build webs. This correlation is often cited as an example of the Quran's insights into the natural world.

More interesting is that This verse highlights the fragility of the spider's web, and one of the reasons it is considered fragile is because in some spider species, the female may throw the male out of the web after mating, indicating its vulnerability. This additional information provides context for why the Quran refers to the spider's house as one of the weakest, as it can be disrupted even after its construction.
