Surah as-Saff — From Claim to Rank

(61:1–4)

“Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth glorifies Allāh, for He is the Almighty, All-Wise.”

(61:1)

“O believers! Why do you say what you do not do?”

(61:2)

“It is greatly hateful in the sight of Allāh that you say what you do not do.”

(61:3)

“Surely Allāh loves those who fight in His cause in ranks, as if they were a solid structure.”

(61:4)

Qur’ān confirms Qur’ān

“Do you command others to righteousness and forget yourselves…?”

(Qur’ān 2:44)

“O you who believe! Fear Allāh and be with the truthful.”

(Qur’ān 9:119)

“Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allāh is the most righteous.”

(Qur’ān 49:13)

From the Prophet ﷺ

The Prophet Muḥammad (AS) said:

“The most hated person to Allāh is the one who commands others to righteousness but does not practice it himself.”

(Meaning reported in Islamic narrations)

The Prophet Muḥammad (AS) said:

“A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown into the Fire… He used to command good but not do it, and forbid evil but commit it.”

(Ṣaḥīḥ meaning, widely narrated)

Imam ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (AS), cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muḥammad (AS), said:

“The worst people are those whose words exceed their actions.”

(Nahj al-Balāghah)

Imam Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq (AS), grandson of the Prophet Muḥammad (AS), said:

“Be callers to the truth without your tongues.”

(Meaning: through actions)

Qur’ān defines the strength of believers

“And do not weaken or grieve, for you will be superior if you are true believers.”

(Qur’ān 3:139)

“Honor belongs to Allāh, His Messenger, and the believers.”

(Qur’ān 63:8)

“Indeed, the allies of Allāh will have no fear, nor will they grieve.”

(Qur’ān 10:62)

“Allāh is the Protector of those who believe.”

(Qur’ān 2:257)

Strength is unity, not numbers

“Hold firmly to the rope of Allāh all together and do not become divided.”

(Qur’ān 3:103)

“And obey Allāh and His Messenger, and do not dispute, or you will lose courage and your strength will depart.”

(Qur’ān 8:46)

From the Prophet Muhammad (AS)

The Prophet Muḥammad (AS) said:

“The believer to the believer is like a structure — each part strengthens the other.”

(Ṣaḥīḥ meaning, widely narrated)

Imam ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (AS), cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet Muḥammad (AS), said:

“A believer is stronger than iron.”

Imam Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq (AS), grandson of the Prophet Muḥammad (AS), said:

“The believer is firmer than a mountain — the mountain may lose from it, but the believer loses nothing from his faith.”

What the Qur’ān shows

Believers are not honoured by wealth.

Not by status.

Not by loud claims.

They are honoured by alignment.

They are strong because Allāh stands with them.

The meaning the Qur’ān leaves us with

“The seven heavens, the earth, and everyone in them glorify Him. There is not a single thing that does not glorify Him with praise—but you do not understand their glorification.”

(Qur’ān 17:44)

And you share in the reward of every reminder delivered through it.

Both are accepted by Allāh.

Monthly is recommended because it keeps the daʿwah moving even if small.

“If you lend Allāh a good loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. And Allāh is Most Appreciative, Most Forbearing.”(Qur’ān 64:17)
