Reflection on Qur’ān 11:96–11:101

Qur’ān 11:96–97 — Truth vs. Tyranny

Verse:

“And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs and a clear authority,

to Pharaoh and his chiefs. But they followed the command of Pharaoh, and the command of Pharaoh was not rightly guided.”

(11:96–97)

Meaning:

Mūsā (ع) came with:

  • Clear signs
  • Divine authority
  • Truth from Allāh

Yet Pharaoh’s people chose:

  • Power over truth
  • Authority over guidance
  • A ruler over Revelation

Supporting Qur’ān:

“So he led his people astray and did not guide them.”

(20:79)

“Do not follow those whose hearts We have made heedless of Our remembrance.”

(18:28)

Hadith

(Imam ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib — grandson of the Prophet ﷺ):

“Do not obey a creation in disobedience to the Creator.”

(Nahj al-Balāghah)

Meaning:

Blindly following leaders without truth leads to destruction.

Qur’ān 11:98–99 — Leadership in This Life and the Next

Verse:

“He will lead his people on the Day of Resurrection and bring them into the Fire… They were followed by a curse in this world and on the Day of Resurrection…”

(11:98–99)

Meaning:

Pharaoh misled his people in life,

and will lead them again in punishment.

False leaders do not abandon their followers — even in Hell.

Supporting Qur’ān:

“On the Day We will call every people with their leader.”

(17:71)

“They will say: Our Lord, we obeyed our leaders and they misled us.”

(33:67)

Meaning:

Every follower shares responsibility.

Qur’ān 11:100 — The Ruins of Past Nations

Verse:

“That is from the news of the cities which We relate to you. Some of them are still standing, and some have been mowed down.”

(11:100)

Meaning:

Allāh teaches that destroyed nations left:

  • Ruins
  • Remains
  • Traces
  • Signs

Some are visible.

Some vanished completely.

Supporting Qur’ān:

“Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them?”

(40:21)

“So We made them a lesson for those after them.”

(43:56)

“And their homes are still inhabited after them, except a little.”

(28:58)

Reality Today:

Remains of destroyed nations still exist:

  • Thamūd (Madā’in Ṣāliḥ)
  • Ancient Egypt
  • Lost cities
  • Buried civilizations

They can be seen, studied, and visited.

They are living proofs.

Qur’ān 11:101 — Allāh Does Not Wrong Anyone

Verse:

“And We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. Their gods did not benefit them when the command of your Lord came…”

(11:101)

Meaning:

Destruction never comes without warning.

People are destroyed because:

  • They rejected truth
  • They trusted falsehood
  • They ignored reminders

False gods, false systems, and false beliefs cannot save anyone.

Supporting Qur’ān:

“Allāh does not wrong people at all, but people wrong themselves.”

(10:44)

“Whoever turns away from My remembrance will have a difficult life.”

(20:124)

Hadith

(Imam Jaʿfar al-Ṣādiq — grandson of the Prophet ﷺ):

“When sins increase, blessings decrease.”

(al-Kāfī)

Meaning:

Consequences are self-inflicted.

Visible Signs Today

Allāh says:

“We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves…”

(41:53)

The ruins of past nations remain as proof.

Across QuranFaith.com, you can find:

  • Images of destroyed civilizations
  • Videos of ancient ruins
  • Evidence of vanished nations
  • Historical signs mentioned in the Qur’ān

All showing that Allāh’s warning is real.

These are not stories.

They are reality.

Core Lessons from 11:96–101

Truth is always sent with proof.

Power does not equal guidance.

Following false leaders destroys nations.

Ruins are reminders, not decorations.

Every soul is responsible for its choices.

Closing Reminder

Allāh says:

“So take warning, O people of insight.”

(59:2)

“And in their stories is a lesson for people of understanding.”

(12:111)

“And fear a trial that will not affect only the wrongdoers among you.”

(8:25)

Final Reflection

Past nations were stronger than us.

They had:

  • Cities
  • Palaces
  • Armies
  • Wealth

Yet they fell.

Only faith remained.

May Allāh protect our hearts from arrogance and heedlessness.

May He make the Qur’ān our guide.
