أَفَلَمْ يَكُونُوا۟ يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ

Have they not seen its ruins? [25:40]

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ أَمْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَـٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةًۭ مِّن سِجِّيلٍۢ مَّنضُودٍۢ ٨٢

When Our command came, We turned the cities upside down and rained down on them clustered stones of baked clay,

وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْأَمْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٌۭ مُّصْبِحِينَ ٦٦

We revealed to him [LūT] this decree: “Those ˹homosexual sinners˺ will be uprooted in the morning.” — Qur’ān 15:66

وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلْفَـٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَ ٥٤

And ˹mention˺ LūT, when he said to ˹the men of˺ his people, “Do you commit that shameful deed while you can see ˹one another˺?

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ ٱلرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةًۭ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنِّسَآءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌۭ تَجْهَلُونَ ٥٥

Do you really lust after men instead of women? In fact, you are ˹only˺ a people acting ignorantly.”

‎ [Qur’ān 27:54 - 27-58]

The ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah are located near the southeastern region of the Dead Sea, in modern-day Jordan. Visible to all who pass by.

فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةًۭ مِّن سِجِّيلٍۢ

So We turned the city upside down and rained upon them stones of baked clay."—

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ ٧٥

Surely in this are signs for those who contemplate.

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍۢ مُّقِيمٍ ٧٦

Their ruins still lie along a known route.

[Qur’ān 15:74 - 15:76]

These are not just remnants of a lost city.

These are signs.

Left untouched for 3000 years. Preserved in plain sight.

As if Someone is holding them there—for you to see, and to believe.

Who made the ruins remain? Who ensured they still lie along a known route?

None but Allāh, the One who revealed:

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍۢ مُّقِيمٍۢ

Their ruins still lie along a known route.

— Qur’ān 15:76

إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

“Surely in this is a sign for those who believe.”

— Qur’ān 15:77

Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those before them? [35:44]
